Completed residency in Emergency Medicine at Brown University, earned an MD from the University of Nevada, Reno, an MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Georgetown University, and a BS in Conservation Ecology from UC Berkeley.
Raised in Tahoe, she’s been skiing since the age of two and snowboarding since middle school. She’ll ski or ride any snow, anywhere—if she’s not doing powder laps at the resort, she’s likely making turns in the backcountry. During residency, she served as a ski patroller and assistant medical director for the Mt. Washington Ski Patrol, which covers the backcountry terrain of Tuckerman Ravine. She also patented a device designed to teach shoulder, elbow, and hip reductions in wilderness settings.
In the summer, she can be found surfing, mountain biking, climbing, and trail running with her cattle dog, Bodhi, and her husband, Ryan.
Dr. Strauss will lead two workshops:
Ski/snowboard injuries and field management
Backcountry adventure in the winter
