June-11-2025
Dear Plumas County Community,
As the CEO of Plumas District Hospital, my priority is ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality care for everyone in our region. Today, I want to highlight a crucial issue that requires immediate attention: the upcoming Rite Aid prescription transfer deadline.
Key Deadline: July 2, 2025
If you currently fill prescriptions at the Quincy Rite Aid, you must transfer to a new pharmacy by July 2 to keep your prescriptions local. If no action is taken, your prescriptions will be automatically transferred to the Rite Aid in Corning, California — a location several hours from Quincy and likely not practical for most residents.
Your Local Pharmacy Options
Fortunately, there are several trusted, local alternatives available. For example, Quincy Pharmacy offers a simple transfer process and will expand its hours to better serve the community:
To transfer your prescriptions, you can:
• Walk in and request a transfer in person
• Call Quincy Pharmacy: (530) 283-4545
• Submit a transfer request online through their website
Your local pharmacy options include:
Quincy Pharmacy (Quincy)
Expanded Hours Starting July 14, 2025:
• Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Portola Village Pharmacy (Portola)
• Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• Call Portal Village Pharmacy: (530) 832-4218
Lassen Drug (Chester)
• Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Call Lassen Drug: (855) 258-2261
As with Quincy Pharmacy, these pharmacies can handle the transfer directly with Rite Aid—just give them a call or stop by.
Using a Mail Order Service?
If you use a mail order prescription service, you are not limited to local pharmacies. You can contact your insurance provider or the mail order pharmacy directly to request that your prescriptions be transferred from Rite Aid to your mail order service.
Important Notes About Certain Medications
Please note that some medications cannot be transferred automatically, including:
• Prescriptions with no remaining refills
• Controlled substances (e.g. pain, anxiety or sleep medications)
For these, you’ll need to contact your doctor directly through your patient portal or call in to have new prescriptions issued to your new pharmacy or mail order provider.
Act Now to Stay on Track With Your Care
The July 2 deadline is approaching fast. Acting now ensures that you stay on track with your medication regimen and avoid any disruption in care. Choosing a local pharmacy or coordinating with your mail order provider allows you to receive timely, personalized service—and keeps your healthcare connected and convenient.
In good health,
