Dr. Morgan Discusses Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea During
Dinner with a Doctor Event

says you have it, you do,” Dr. Ross Morgan explained to about 50 listeners,
during his presentation entitled ‘Sawing logs or ticking time bomb?’ at the
second Dinner with a Doctor event at the Mineral Building in Quincy

Early Detection is Year-round Priority
The heralds of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month are here - pink awareness ribbons. They help remind us of the importance of early detection and regular mammograms - and they are everywhere - from store shelves to TV commercials, even appearing on NFL player uniforms and rodeo cowboys.
Yet despite all the pink ribbons, sobering figures released from the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month program indicate that there are still women who do not take advantage of early detection at all and others who do not get screening mammograms and clinical breast exams at regular intervals.
Hospital Recognized for Outstanding Obstetric Patient Care
Plumas District Hospital (PDH) received news that it has been recognized for outstanding obstetric (OB) patient care. It is one of only 14 hospitals in the state to be honored for meeting all elements of the annual OB Patient Safety Program – Quest for Zero sponsored by BETA Healthcare Group, the hospital’s liability insurance carrier.
“The perinatal team here at PDH is very proud of this honor,” said obstetric department manager Amy Titmus. “We are continuously striving to provide excellent quality care and assure the safety of our growing families,” she continued. OB team training is ongoing and is already in progress for next year’s OB patient safety program.
Hospital Program for Diabetes During Pregnancy
Women with
diabetes prior to pregnancy, or who develop gestational diabetes while
pregnant require more frequent prenatal visits to manage the condition and
deliver a healthy baby.
Plumas District Hospital (PDH) assists pregnant women to manage diabetes
during pregnancy with the Sweet Success Program. The program is designed to
decrease the risk of diabetes-related complications despite having diabetes
during pregnancy. Complications such as pre-term labor, a baby who is too
small or too large at birth and/or low blood sugar in the baby at birth can
be avoided.

NOVEMBER EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Krista Davis, Outpatient Services/Telemedicine Coordinator
Krista has taken full ownership of her job as a Telemedicine Coordinator and does an excellent job at organizing and perfecting all details associated with it.
